Checking the pixels

Likely AI-generated

The pixels carry the patterns AI image models leave behind. A photo heavily edited with AI can score this way too.

The image checked
AI score99.9% likely AI

Most likely made with

  1. Nano Banana (Google Gemini 3)

What the file says about itself

  • No camera data and no Content Credentials. That is normal for screenshots and images saved from apps, so it proves nothing either way.

Read in your browser, from the file as you picked it. Files can lose these or fake them, so the verdict above comes from the pixels alone.

How to check if an image is AI

Three steps, no app. The image is checked and not kept.

  1. Add the image

Upload it, drop it on the box, or paste it with Ctrl+V or ⌘V. JPEG, PNG or WebP.

  2. Press “Check the image”

The detector reads the pixels, not the file name or the caption, in a few seconds.

  3. Read the verdict

Likely AI or likely real, how sure, which AI model most likely made it, and what the file says about itself.

What the result means

The AI score is how likely the image is to have been made by AI, from 0 to 100%. From 90% we say likely AI; under 20%, likely a real photo.

Likely AI-generated

The pixels carry the patterns AI image models leave behind. A photo heavily edited with AI can score this way too.

Likely a real photo

We found none of the patterns AI image models leave. That is strong evidence it was not made by AI, though no detector is certain.

Can’t tell for sure

Some signs of AI showed, but not clearly. Images that are partly edited with AI, heavily compressed, very small or screenshots often land here.

AI image generators it detects

It names the likeliest one, and learns new models as they come out.

  • Nano Banana, Nano Banana 2.1 and Gemini (Google)
  • Imagen (Google)
  • GPT Image and DALL·E (OpenAI)
  • Midjourney
  • FLUX (Black Forest Labs)
  • Stable Diffusion and SDXL
  • Seedream (ByteDance)
  • Qwen Image and Z-Image (Alibaba)
  • Grok Imagine (xAI)
  • Adobe Firefly

  • Recraft
  • Reve
  • Kling, Sora and Veo video frames

How accurate it is

29/30 AI images called likely AI0/39 real photos called AI

Our own test on October 10, 2026: images we made that day with Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2, Seedream 4.5, FLUX.2 Pro, Imagen 4 and Qwen Image 3, and real camera and phone photos taken from 2005 to 2020, each shrunk the way this page sends them. The one AI image not called AI, made by FLUX.2, came out “Can’t tell for sure”. No detector is right every time: treat a result as strong evidence, not proof.

AI image detector questions

How do I check if an image is AI-generated?

Upload, drop or paste the image into the AI image detector at the top of this page and press “Check the image”. In a few seconds it says whether the image is likely AI-generated or likely a real photo, how sure it is, and which AI model most likely made it.

Is this image AI? How accurate is the detector?

On our own test on October 10, 2026, the detector called 29 of 30 AI images made that day by Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2, Seedream 4.5, FLUX.2 Pro, Imagen 4 and Qwen Image 3 likely AI, and the last one “Can’t tell for sure”. It called none of 39 real camera and phone photos AI. No detector is right every time: treat the result as strong evidence, not proof.

Is the AI image detector free?

Yes: 3 free checks a day without an account, and 20 free checks a day once you sign in with Google or your email. After that, a check takes 1 credit.

Can it detect Nano Banana, Nano Banana 2.1 and Gemini images?

Yes. In our test it caught all 10 Nano Banana 2.1 images and all 3 Nano Banana Pro images, and named Google’s model as the likeliest source, even though those images carry no visible watermark or metadata.

Which AI generators can it detect?

Nano Banana and Gemini, Imagen, GPT Image and DALL·E, Midjourney, FLUX, Stable Diffusion, Seedream, Qwen, Grok, Firefly, Ideogram, Recraft, Reve and more. The detector is updated as new models come out.

Does it work without metadata or a watermark?

Yes. The verdict comes from the pixels alone, so it works on screenshots and on images whose metadata was removed. Separately, the page shows what the file says about itself, such as Content Credentials that say an AI made it, or the camera that took it.

Is my image stored?

No. We send the image to the detector only to check it, and we do not keep it. The file facts are read in your browser and never leave it.

Can it tell if a real photo was edited with AI?

Sometimes. Heavy AI edits usually score as AI; small ones, such as a removed object, may not. A result of “Can’t tell for sure” often means an image is partly edited, very small or heavily compressed.
